Back on the tools

After a year of stop / go patchy aerial survey contract work, I’m back on the tools – fixing and selling bicycles for a living. I really needed a regular paycheck, not burning down every single cent before the next shift comes along and then stringing out a tiny field budget waiting for cheques to land.

For people who are young with no dependencies, aerial survey contracting can be a great start. For people with obligations – it is maybe not the right fit. So, after a decade, I’m back to fixing bicycles.

…but isn’t this a waste of experience, education, skills?

According to every part of the professional spectrum my skills, experience and training touch, no. And quite loudly so.

If you want to disagree with this, reach out with a job offer!

Until then, I’ll be on my feet all day, on the tools, for not much more than minimum wage. At least, for the first time in 2 years, I know where rent comes from.
